Hey guys, welcome to my new blog.Today I am going to share how festivals are celebrated in Sikkim. So let's get started. 

In Sikkim, festivals are celebrated with a lot of pomp and show and as per the Buddhist calendar. ... Some of the most popular festivals, notable in Sikkim are Losoong, Drupka Teshi, Bumchu, Saga Dawa, Dassin and Phang Lhabsol. Saga Dawa : Saga Dawa is an amazing festival that is triple blessed.
So i am going to tell you about main festivals that are celebrated in Sikkim with great pomp and show. 
The first festival which we are going to talk about is 
1) Saga Dewa- 

It is an important day for the Mahayana Buddhists as it celebrates the three most important phases of Gautama Buddha his birth, his enlightenment and his attaining nirvana. This triple celebration, which is the biggest in Sikkim, is observed on the full moon of the fourth month of the lunar calendar of the Buddhists and typically falls between the end of May to beginning of June – what the rest of India celebrates as Buddh Poornima. The day is celebrated with people paying a visit to the Sikkim monasteries and offering lamps of butter to show their devotion and love.

The second most important festival is-

2) Lasoong- It is the Farmer’s New Year is like the Baisakhi festival of the North where farmers celebrates their bountiful harvest where the lama dances keeping in tradition of the expulsion of the evil spirit and to welcome the new spirit via the New YearThe Losoong festival is celebrated on the occasion of the end of the harvest season and the end of the tenth month of the Tibetan Year in the rural Sikkim. On this festival, the Chaam dances are performed at the Tsu-La-Khang monastery, Phodong monastery and Rumtek monastery. 

3) Losar-The Tibetan New Year is perhaps the most enthusiastically celebrated festival of Sikkim. This harvest festival is marked by the Chaam and other traditional dances. People visit the monasteries for rituals before venturing out for celebrations. 

4) Dussehra-Dashain’ makes for the most important religious festival for the Nepali community living in North East Indian state of Sikkim. The festival is commonly celebrated under the name of ‘Durga Puja’ and ‘Navratri’ in other parts of India. Entire state during the fifteen days celebrations comes alive with the aura of merriment and happiness in the air.
